Kearns originally was established as an Air Force Training facility during WWII. After WWII the Air Force turned the base over to the state of Utah. The infrastructure that was put in place by the Air Force made the Kearns area prime for development. Today the airport is still there. However, it has been downsized and is only used for small military craft for Camp Williams several miles to the south.
